A New Bar Discovery in Hanoi Old Quarter: Mojito Bar & Lounge

I love hanging out with friends in a nice and chilled bar and enjoy chatting over a great drink. There are few wine bars and pubs in Hanoi I have been to and I wrote about three wine bars for wine lovers to explore while in Hanoi. And as I like to explore new places and take the journey of discovering a new hidden gem, I continued on my bar expedition.

Recently, I discovered a new bar a little tucked away in a quiet street in Old Quarter. A friend of mine found this place on Vietnamese social media and brought me there and I was in for a great surprise.

I had not much idea of what to expect and the building looked pretty ordinary from outside. Atmosphere of ground floor was rather brightly lit and even slightly humdrum. The seats were all occupied on the ground floor, so we were led upstairs. As we were going upstairs, bits of Mojito bar’s decorations and personality started to appear.

Deeper into the building past the bar, there was a dance stage with some people dancing, which was very interesting and unexpected. There was a little pond with green plants by the staircase suggesting a mini jungle. Then from the staircase to the floor up, the true treasure could be found.

The hidden gem is upstairs

The vibe upstairs was cosy and chilled with dim lights and upbeat and lively with great music and crowd at the same time. Details of decor can be found everywhere, making the first entrance very entertaining.

They have an extensive list of cocktails and most of them are beyond classic cocktails. The cocktails are creatively named, so I went for the ‘title’ not the ingredients. I tried two different cocktails here and it’s a shame that I can’t remember the names of them, but they both tasted great and unique.

Prices of cocktails are quite on the high end compared to other places. It ranges between 180,000 and 380,000VND for a cocktail, so maybe watch out for how many drinks you’ll have here.

Fantastic orangey and cinnamony cocktail

I went here around 11PM and I’d have loved to stay much longer and try more drinks, but they were clearing and closing around 12:30AM. So the first night here had to end soon, but I’m definitely going back again to try more of their unique drinks.

I must say that this place deserves a spotlight, so if you’re searching for a bar with fine drinks and great ambience, Mojito Bar should be on your list to visit!
