Brand New ‘Balcony’ Cafe in Hanoi with a Serene & Antique Ambience

Good news for everyone who’s keen on exploring beautiful cafes with great atmosphere and decor for a relaxing afternoon and Instagram pictures! This brand new cafe in the centre of Hanoi’s Old Quarter just opened in June 2019.

It’s called ‘Bancong Cafe’, meaning balcony cafe in a huge building in comparison to most of typical Vietnamese buildings that are narrow and small.

The warm brown and yellowish tone of building exterior will catch your eyes immediately when passing by and you’d want to stop for a pose to get a photograph in front. And when you step inside, you’ll be welcomed by friendly staff and pleasantly surprised by thoughtfully and neatly decorated interior.

Ground floor seats

If you’re lucky to grab a seat by the window on the ground floor, you’ll be able to take awesome photographs from outside and that could be your new profile picture or IG upload!

Do make sure to check out the upstairs as there awaits more shots to be captured on your camera and of course the balcony seats outdoor!

The entire place is sheltered with bleak walls with a warm brown and yellowish tone and harmoniously filled with antique and classic Vietnamese furniture and objects.

Upstairs seats with a traditional Vietnamese loft

Here, you’ll feel as you’re back in time inside a traditional Vietnamese house because of its ancient ambience along with mindfully decorated antique objects.

Despite the sunny weather outside, the green trees and gracious shades from the surrounding buildings will treat you a delightful breeze. You can sit back and unwind away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy people watching.

Cold Brew coffee - 65,000VND

There’s quite a range of menus from coffee to lassi as well as dessert and more filling options. The price range is higher than average in Hanoi and is roughly about 50,000 – 70,000VND for a drink.  I ordered a cold brew here, which was slightly sour for my taste, but it was very refreshing. The atmosphere and level of hospitality of its staff were exceptional.

I can imagine this place being all over social media in a very short period of time and soon it’ll be packed with people. So go visit this place before to enjoy the tranquil and unspoilt mood!
