A friend of mine had visited a new rooftop bar and introduced me to the place. It is in a newly open hotel on Hang Be street. The Delicacy Central Hotel & Spa was open sometime this year, 2019 and it is a 12-floor building, which is very tall for the Old Quarter. So the view is probably one of the highest you can enjoy in the old town.
I was really impressed with the height of the place as the buildings inside the old town are bound to stay low and mostly under 10 floors. From the bar, I could see where the other nice looking rooftop bars are, and found a couple more bars marked to visit in the future.
It was on a Saturday evening and there was a live band playing instruments and singing. The sofa seats were very comfy and perfect to lounge with a glass of cocktail with a group of friends. The high bar stools seemed great for a couple or solo to sit and enjoy the view.
The live band volume was slightly too high because we sat nearby the bar where the speaker was. But the band finished their performance around 10pm, so it was all good after then. If you’d like to enjoy the view without loud music, it’s recommended to go when there’s no live band or during the day.
The menu was mainly cocktail focused. There were several cocktails with local names such as Sông Hồng (Red river in Hanoi) and Hanoi Swizzle. I wanted to try one of those locally inspired cocktails, so I went for Hanoi Swizzle. The presentation of my cocktail was very nice that I was really pleased to receive it.
The cocktail prices are from 200,000VND up, so it is on a slightly higher end compared to some other bars, but not too elevated. And it was worth the extra for the experience.
