Top 5 Rooftop Bars in Old Quarter, Hanoi to enjoy a drink with Awesome Views

Hanoi’s symbolic and prominent nightlife can be defined as having a drink sitting on low plastic chairs on the streets of beer street and it is one thing any traveller must experience while in Vietnam. It is a truly local and unique experience you can have here.

But other than a night out in the beer street mingling in the jam-packed crowd, a nice escape on rooftop bars can be a great relief. A drink on top of Hanoi can also be a whole new experience to see the view of the Old Quarter’s hustle and bustle from above.

As much as I enjoy the local and down-to-earth dining and drinking in local beer places and restaurants, I also love exploring rooftop bars to capture different scenes and perspectives of Hanoi.

My adventure of rooftop hopping in the Old Quarter has been fantastic so far and I really enjoyed how each and every place I visited has a different angle of the Old Quarter. My time on rooftop bars is a little reward for myself because I truly appreciate the tranquility and seclusion from Hanoi’s hectic traffic and crowd.

You might also be in need of a short break from the crazy noise and congestion, or you might want to take a glimpse of Hanoi from above. Check out my list of top 5 rooftop bars in the Old Quarter for your great night out here in Hanoi!

MK Rooftop Bar

MK Rooftop bar is on top of MK Premier Boutique Hotel located in one of the main and busiest streets of the Old Quarter. Despite the crowd of locals and travellers all day and night, on top of this hotel offers remoteness and a wide view over the roofs of houses and hotels. They have comfy lounge chairs for you to chill and enjoy a drink and the view.

Central Sky Bar is on top of a newly open hotel. It offers the highest view of the Old Quarter compared to other bars on the list and you can also see a stunning view of the famous Hoan Kiem lake. Their menu is mostly cocktail-oriented and they serve one of the prettiest cocktail presentations in Hanoi.

Lofita Nha Tho

St. Joseph's Cathedral (source: TripAdvisor)

Lofita – Love at First Taste is slightly more tilted towards cafe than a bar because they have very limited alcoholic options, but it is a great place with a top view over St. Joseph’s Cathedral, one of the most famous tourist attractions in town. You can definitely get a different perspective of the beautiful Gothic church of Hanoi.

Long Bien railway bridge

Here’s a place where you can enjoy the Insta-famous Long Bien railway bridge. This rustic railway bridge attracts so many foreign and local travellers for the notorious shot on the bridge, but at Serein Cafe & Lounge, you can get this complete view of the bridge. I loved the cocktails here because they have an amazing bartender who really knows bartending.

Another beautiful spot for the night view of the Old Quarter is at JM Rooftop bar inside JM Marvel Hotel. This bar is a rather small one and have limited seats by the fence from where you can see a view over the city, so it’s perfect place to go alone or with a friend or two to enjoy a quiet chat over a drink.
