Vietnam has a great spectrum of destinations to fulfill and delight all tourists. From turquoise long beaches to breathtaking landscapes up in the highlands, there are long lists of places for travellers to explore.

Beginning with this article of top beach destinations in Vietnam, there will be more lists of Vietnam’s top destinations for other interests to be featured in the future.

Best Beaches & Islands

Phu Quoc Island

Phu Quoc is the most well-known and the largest island in Vietnam. Located in the southern tip of Vietnam and close to the Cambodian border, it is a popular stop-over between the two countries. The island has abundant options of beaches to choose from as well as a national park for hiking and adventurous journeys in the wildlife. As a highly developed destination, there’s much nightlife going on keeping travellers and the city up all night.

Con Dao Islands

Formerly served as a political prison under the French and American colonists, the Con Dao islands are in the southeast coast of Vietnam and the main island, Con Son is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh city. It is yet untouched with limited development for tourism, allowing visitors tranquility compared to other beaches. There are white sand beaches, reefs and greens to be gratified as well as opportunities to learn about the country’s colonial history.

Nha Trang

Nha Trang has long been on top of the best beaches not only in Vietnam, but in the world. The 6-km long beach along the high-rise buildings of hotels and restaurants serve as a perfect destination for all groups. Nha Trang is also a great spot for water sports such as kitesurfing. The tourism and development took a bit overboard, but there are still pristine spots of beaches to enjoy.

Quy Nhon

This one is a true off-the-beaten-track option ideal for those looking for complete seclusion. This small coastal town in the southeast of Vietnam is where you can enjoy the yet unspoilt nature in a local environment and indulge in delectable seafood options. It is soon picking up more travellers as more hotel properties are filling up.

Da Nang & Hoi An

An Bang beach in Hoi An

My Khe beach in Da Nang and An Bang beach in Hoi An are a great duo of beaches in central Vietnam. The gigantic stretch of stunning beaches accommodate all activities from surfing to sunbathing in absolute serenity. My personal favourite is An Bang beach because of its proximity to the ancient town of Hoi An and the fresh and delicious seafood at the beachfront restaurants.

Ha Long

One of the must-visit destinations in northern Vietnam is Ha Long bay for the 2,000 limestone islets scattered around the bay. A cruise passing through and by these islets is an absolutely romantic and breathtaking experience especially for couples. The beaches are not as transparent and turquoise compared to the ones in the centre and south of Vietnam, but there are decent beaches for a good swim during the cruise.
