I wrote an article of three wine and cocktail bars in Old Quarter, Hanoi that I like and often to go to. While those places are great for hanging out with nice glass of wine, I always search for new places especially some nice hidden gems to add to my list of bars in Hanoi.
Most of my research for a great restaurant or bar is from Vietnamese social media or local / expat friends and sometimes some Facebook or Instagram ads pop up introducing some cool places, which I would mark on my Google map to try out. But recently, I visited the food street on Tong Duy Tan street near the train street and stumbled upon a bar.
Classy and warm exterior design of the building and entrance caught my eyes and I immediately wanted to check this place out.
When you step inside, there’s the bar and high table with bar stools dimly lit with lights and candles creating a relaxing atmosphere. Bartenders wearing a vest looked professional and friendly.
We went upstairs to see and it was a very different setting to the ground floor. There were sofa seats perfect for lounging. I really liked the sofa seats and the overall design – interior and furniture – of the place. So we took a table by the window through which the autumn’s night breeze blew in softly. They were playing soft jazz music, which contributed to the chilled vibe.
I think I would have appreciated the ambiance more if they dimmed down the lights a bit more of our floor because it was slightly too bright for me. Considering how every building and shop in Hanoi is usually very small and narrow, it was a great surprise to discover a place with much space and big sofas to lounge in.
They have classic cocktails and their signature cocktails along with other liquor and wine menus. We went for a bottle of wine to share. But their signature cocktail menu looked very appealing and I’d love to try it when I go back to Trippy Land again.
When we were leaving for home around midnight, the ground floor was filled with guests and the vibe was much livelier and atmospheric than earlier. I personally liked Trippy Land for the space and overall ambiance. Although the price range of signature cocktails is slightly higher than some other places, but other menus like wine were not too pricey and tasted pretty fine.
